FT: US began to put pressure on Turkish banks because of Mir cards

The United States and the European Union began to put pressure on the Turkish financial sector, trying to get Ankara to stop helping Russia “get around the sanctions.” It is reported by the Financial Times, citing unnamed sources.
In particular, Turkish banks that have connected to the Mir payment system are subject to pressure.
The publication also notes that the EU intends to send a delegation to Ankara to directly state its concerns about circumventing sanctions against Russia.
Earlier it was reported that a number of Turkish hotels stopped accepting Mir cards, which were issued by some Russian banks.
At the same time, representatives of the tourist industry confirmed that Turkish hotels were advised not to accept Mir cards.
