The Russian military has begun to use the new Scalpel strike platform in the military operation zone in Ukraine. This was reported by the Vostok design bureau (KB), which is the developer of the platform.
“At the moment, one batch of “Scalpels” in the amount of 15 products has been delivered to the Northern Military District zone. Feedback from pilots is mostly positive – the aircraft controls well and is very obedient,” they said TASS in the design bureau.
The design bureau clarified that Vostok has currently launched “small-scale production” of the Scalpel platform, producing “about 20 products per month.” In the future, production may be expanded.
The Scalpel platform is a loitering unmanned munition (“kamikaze drone”). The aerodynamic layout of the Scalpel platform is almost identical to the Lancet, which has already become widely known and has shown high efficiency in destroying armored vehicles, artillery, air defense systems and radars during combat operations in Ukraine. “Scalpel”, like “Izdeliye-52”, has a pair of X-shaped tails of the same size, but “Scalpel” is larger in size and has a higher load-carrying capacity than “Lancet”.
