The House of Representatives of the US Congress is still without a speaker: Jim Jordan, nominated by the Republican Party for this post, failed to get the required number of votes.
To be elected, the support of at least 217 members of the House of Representatives is required, while Jordan received only 199 votes. 212 parliamentarians voted for his rival Hakeem Jeffries from the Democratic Party.
The date for the next round of voting for candidates for the post of Speaker of the House of Representatives is still unknown.
