Politico: the US does not believe that ATACMS missiles will greatly help the Ukrainian Armed Forces

Biden administration officials insist that ATACMS missiles will not be a “magic bullet” that will help the Ukrainian Armed Forces achieve success, Politico writes.
“The war, which has lasted 18 months, is still an artillery battle, and progress is measured in feet, not miles. Clearing mines takes up soldiers’ time, preventing them from quickly maneuvering to retake territory. New missiles will help Ukraine, but will not become a decisive weapon, American officials say,” the publication says.
Earlier, the White House refused to confirm media reports that American leader Joe Biden allegedly notified Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky about the readiness of the United States to send a small batch of ATACMS to Kyiv. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Friday, September 22, also did not confirm American media reports that Washington had allegedly decided to send long-range ATACMS missiles to Kyiv. The head of the American foreign policy department said that Ukraine will continue to receive assistance from the United States, taking into account the needs of Kyiv and the progress of the discussions.
Advisor to the acting governor of the DPR, Ian Gagin, noted that the United States continues to escalate the Ukrainian conflict through the planned transfer of long-range ATACMS missiles to Kyiv, since it is beneficial for them, although it is absolutely unprofitable for Europe.
