The Moldovan airline Air Moldova announced the resumption of flights between Moscow and Chisinau from October 1. Flights have been suspended since February.

“After the closure of the airspace in February 2022, Air Moldova will resume flights to Moscow starting from October 1. The decision taken is the result of numerous appeals from citizens of the Republic of Moldova who wish to return home or reunite with their families,”— says in the airline message.

Air Moldova noted that the decision to resume flights is also related to the demands of passengers to use tickets purchased during the pandemic and after the closure of airspace in February.

“These circumstances have resulted in difficulties that hundreds of our fellow citizens face every day: the need to re-buy tickets at inflated prices, longer travel times, long and tiring connecting flights. Travel in cases of emergency medical care is especially difficult, ”the company explained.

Flights from Russia to Moldova and back were suspended after the start of the military operation in Ukraine. At the moment, Russian aircraft are prohibited from entering EU airspace.
