49% of Russians subscribed to online cinemas – Kommersant

At the beginning of 2023, 49% of Russians used all types of subscriptions, including free and for a trial period, according to the international research company GfK. In the fourth quarter of 2022, 46% of Russian residents had subscriptions to online cinemas. Experts note that such indicators of growth in coverage by all types of subscription within one quarter were recorded for the first time since the end of 2021.
The GfK survey involved 7.5 thousand respondents aged 16 to 55 living in Russian cities, including small towns with a population of up to 100 thousand people.
The Kinopoisk service became the leader in the Russian market. 21.1% of urban residents subscribed to it, 15.4% – paid subscription. The second line in the rating of online cinemas was taken by the Ivy service, to which 10.1% of Russians subscribed (5.8% had a paid subscription). In third place is Wink, which was subscribed by 9.1%, a paid subscription – 6.2%.
For the KION online platform, the total number of subscribers increased from 5.8% to 7.9%, and the number of paying users increased from 3.4% to 4.2%. At START, the total number of subscribers increased from 1.6% to 2.2%. 1.1% signed up for a paid subscription (against 0.8% at the end of 2022).
