More than 35 million Russians have enabled two-factor authentication to log into the State Services portal, the Ministry of Digital Development reported. The Ministry recalled that from October 1, additional confirmation for logging into “State Services” became mandatory for new users of the portal and for those who restore an account.
The Ministry of Digital Development also noted that in the near future the government will adopt a draft resolution on mandatory two-factor authentication for everyone. Users will then be able to log into their account for the last time without confirmation. “This will allow you to clarify data, for example, a phone number, and decide on the choice of additional protection. To install the second protection factor, users need to log into their profile in their personal account on the State Services portal. Then, in the “Security” section, select “Login with confirmation”, and then select one of three options for additional confirmation. Among them are a code from SMS, a one-time code from a special application (TOTP) or login using biometrics.
