Zoom fired Greg Tum as president less than a year after he was appointed to the post. According to the agency Bloombergthe company said in a filing to regulators, indicating that after “dismissal without cause” Greg Tum will receive all payments due to him.
Greg Thum began as President of Zoom in June 2022. He was in charge of teleconferencing the company’s financial results and overseeing sales. Mr. Tum reported directly to Zoom founder and CEO Eric Yuan, with whose support he was nominated for president.
Meanwhile, in the past year, the company, which greatly strengthened its position in the videoconferencing market during the pandemic and tripled the number of employees, was going through hard times. And in recent months, Zoom, like dozens of other large technology companies, has been forced to cut costs and employees in the face of an economic downturn and falling demand. So, last month the company announced on the reduction of 1.3 thousand people, this is 15% of the total number of Zoom employees.
Asked by Bloomberg, Zoom said that the decision to fire Greg Tum takes effect today and that the company is not yet looking for a new presidential candidate.
