The famous actress, Honored Artist of the RSFSR Zhanna Bolotova decided the fate of the personal archive of her husband, Soviet and Russian actor Nikolai Gubenko. She donated the unique materials that belonged to him during his lifetime to the funds of the Bakhrushin Museum. It is known that most of the archive has already been transported from Gubenko’s dacha near Moscow, the rest is in his apartment, so museum workers are expecting new acquisitions soon.
What exactly was handed over for storage and study?
We are talking about documents containing information about the personal life, work and political career of Nikolai Nikolayevich, covering the period from the 1960s to 2020, that is, until the moment of his death.
Of particular value for the history of cinematographic and theatrical art are scripts with Gubenko’s author’s notes for the productions of “Afghan”, “Concert on the occasion of the end of the world” and “Unclean Power”, as well as personal notebooks, documents, publications, interviews. The museum also donated photographs with prominent people and shots from the filming of the films “Wounded Wounds”, “Life, Tears, and Love”, “From the Life of Vacationers”. Documents related to the various stages of the existence of the Taganka Theater, the foundation and activities of the theater “Commonwealth of Taganka Actors”, which Nikolai Gubenko headed for 27 years and where he performed many productions as a director, also deserve close attention of researchers.
In addition, the archive reflected the activities of Nikolai Gubenko as Minister of Culture of the USSR and his work in the State Duma, so that his biography will be presented in Bakhrushinsky in its entirety.
Recall that Gubenko is known to the domestic audience thanks to his roles in such cult films as Ilyich’s Outpost, A Span of the Earth, They Fought for the Motherland, bright screenwriting and directorial work.
