Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk airport is closed until 10:00 (02:00 Moscow time) on January 26 due to the cyclone. Airlines are making changes to aircraft schedules, reported press service airport. The city is in a state of emergency.

Another 15 flights have been cancelled, including to Vladivostok, Chita and Irkutsk. Two Moscow flights of Rossiya Airlines on the evening of January 24 were sent to alternate airfields in Vladivostok and Khabarovsk.
The cyclone arrived in Sakhalin on January 23, and an emergency warning was announced in eight municipalities. Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk schoolchildren were transferred to distance learning; public transport in the city does not work due to poor visibility on the roads. There was a state of emergency introduced January 24.
