Yuri Entin responded to the death of Gennady Gladkov: “I was sick for ten years”

The composer continued to create, although he could not walk and one of his arms did not work.

Soviet and Russian playwright, songwriter and screenwriter Yuri Entin responded to the death of his comrade, composer Gennady Gladkov.

In a conversation with a MK correspondent, Entin recalled his long friendship with the author of the music for The Bremen Town Musicians and the health problems that physically constrained him for a whole decade.

– He was sick for ten years. And it was clear that this was a severe stroke, that he was experiencing a number of difficulties: one arm did not work, he could not walk – he was constantly in a wheelchair. But, nevertheless, he constantly worked, wrote new music.

Gladkov and I wrote a new musical, which was recently shown in Minsk. They were friends with Vasily Livanov for exactly 81 years, they went to first grade holding hands, they were friends when they were still preschoolers. I also joined this friendship 61 years ago.

Livanov just called me and we realized that we were orphans.

– What can you say about the works created by Gennady Igorevich?

– His music is so talented, so bright and does not become outdated one bit that, in my opinion, it will last forever!

A concert was scheduled for the day after tomorrow. Despite what happened, we did not cancel the concert and dedicated it to Gladkov. Livanov and I will definitely be at this evening.
