Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Information Policy, Information Technology and Communications Anton Gorelkin said that it is now impossible to block Youtube. At the same time, the deputy advised posting videos not only on American hosting, but in Russian VK Video and Zen, in order to “gradually move there.”
“YouTube is hostile, but there is no alternative yet. It’s impossible to block it now. Google has been integrating into our digital infrastructure for years, built a CDN network throughout the country,” the parliamentarian said at a meeting with participants in the New Media Workshop (MNM; quote – Telegram channel MNM).
Mr. Gorelkin also added that “there is no Russian Wikipedia”, there is only the Russian segment of the American service. “In 2014, editors who were well-versed in Russia were purged from Wiki. There is an ideology and a lot of money there, but there is nothing objective there,” the parliamentarian believes.
