When this chubby, blue-hued man stepped onto the set, his extravagant drive drove him down into the audience to put on a show. Unable to stay in place for more than five seconds, he constantly physically heckled the show’s conductor, showing that a clown was hiding under the disguise. The overexcited genius even began to initiate a discussion with the host, thus offering valuable clues to his speech. Very quickly, the investigators agreed in unison on a name: Yoann Riou. Unsurprisingly, at the time of the denouement in the den, the bald head of the chronicler of “Big heads” hid well under the mask.
TV MAGAZINE. – You were eliminated after your first bounty. Are you disappointed?
Yoann RIOU. – Not at all, because I lived this three billion percent adventure. The viewers saw only one evening but this experience actually extended over a period of four months. Training started in March and we shot in June. It was a fabulous epic because I came across a fantastic production team. Every week, for a few months, I went to a secret apartment hidden away in Paris where I met up with Marie Christelle Oglaend, the show’s artistic producer, and Alexandra Chabane, the vocal coach. We met about fifteen times and we formed a small family.

During the prime, you took over Gangnam Style, from Psy. How did you approach this song in Korean language?
It’s a title that I had the chance to choose myself. Alexandra took the time to write me the song phonetically, cutting out each syllable, so that I could learn them. When I arrive on the first day of rehearsals, I sing badly and out of tune. And with the patience of an angel, she helped me improve my voice.
You spoke in an anarchic way on set. Why did you take this liberty?
I am a happy guy. I was next to Camille Combal with whom I shot incredible shows. And on the set, I’m under a mask, we’re in a kind of paradise, it’s hot, it’s beautiful, we’re good and I don’t even know what I’m doing there. I am unable to report the words I used because I said what was going through my mind at the time! I have no regrets. I could have been erased, and dodged the questions of the investigators to give no clue. But as I am a journalist, and I like people to answer, I wanted to be nice and bring some elements. I even sometimes answered questions that were not asked of me (Laughs).
Don’t you feel like you broke the rules of the game?
I didn’t go against the rules. I am nature painting! Camille, I adore him so much that when I see him, I tell him we’re going to have fun. It’s one of the best laughs of my TV career. If I had decided to shut up, I wouldn’t have been myself. There, I was authentic, as people know me in life. It is for this reason that I experienced a kind of state of grace in this prime. The moment Camille calls me on the set by my first name and I turn around, I was boozing up in my costume. It’s not a football World Cup… We’re here to have a good time. Besides, no one said anything to me in the headset. During the filming, I felt so happy… I was flying, and I didn’t know where I was anymore! And it’s great because it’s in these moments that we let go.
