Yann Barthès rejects responsibility for the new schedules of "Daily"

Since the start of the school year, the TMC talk show has presented a new cut, closer to that adopted by “Touche pas à mon poste!” on C8, but above all an end brought sometimes until almost 9:30 p.m.

Last Monday, TMC viewers had to wait until 9:38 p.m. to be able to follow the start of Spider-Man: far from home, film announced at 9:15 p.m. on the channel’s gates. The next day, with the same annoyance, Tatiana Silva’s “90 ‘Investigations” magazine started at 9:36 p.m. Wednesday, Hélène Mannarino’s “Retroscopy” dedicated to Franck Dubosc had been launched at 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Peter Jackson’s 3:10 movie Lord of the Years: The Fellowship of the Ring appeared on the air from 9:28 p.m. Friday, finally, the new issue of “90′ investigations” had started at 9:25 p.m. So many programs that should, theoretically, start at 9:15 p.m.

The cause of all these delays? The return of ” Daily “ in access prime time on TMC on August 29th. Usually very punctual, Yann Barthès’ talk show indulged in significant time overruns last week, ending at 9:26 p.m. on Monday, at 9:28 p.m. on Tuesday (on the occasion of the visit of Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne ) and at 9:28 p.m. on Wednesday before stabilizing at 9:15 p.m. and 9:16 p.m. on Thursday and Friday. “The first evening games will soon start at 11 p.m.”remarked Éric Dussart to the host when he came to “We redo the TV” on RTL. “I would like to say that I have nothing to do with it”defended the conductor of “Daily”. “If it were up to me, I would return on time. » And to emphasize, regarding the management of TF1, that “they make me shoot (on schedules, editor’s note) for a week “.

And if the decision-makers of the TF1 group have fun extending the duration of “Daily” at will, it is to better compete with the audiences of “Touche pas à mon poste! on C8 on a time slot where the number of viewers in front of the television is optimal. This season, the TMC talk show has also changed the schedules of its last part by copying those of its direct competitor. Previously broadcast from 8:15 p.m. to 9:15 p.m., “Daily” has been moved to 8:35 p.m. (compared to 8:40 p.m. for “TPMP”). At the microphone of RTL, Yann Barthès confirmed that he did not understand, and did not seek to achieve this, this little game of audiences between the channels. “I tell myself that if it didn’t work out, I would really know, I would worry and I would take an interest in it. “, he said before ensuring that he was not even aware of the change in the schedules of his show. “For me, it’s a pub departure. »

“Daily” and TMC in the viewfinder of Arcom

On the side of the Audiovisual and Digital Communication Regulatory Authority, these delays in the broadcast of first-party evening programs are taken very seriously. Last December, Arcom reported in a press release that “private channels must respect the provisions present in their agreement, which provide that they respect, subject to the constraints inherent in the broadcasting of live broadcasts, the previously announced schedules”. An hourly reading taken between September 11 and 17, 2021 placed TMC at the top of the channels whose average delay in the effective start of prime time programs was the greatest. And if “Don’t touch my post!” is broadcast live on C8, and therefore has a margin of tolerance, this is not the case with “Quotidien” broadcast slightly delayed. “A new analysis of the delays is being finalized”informed us the Arcom.
