Yandex transferred part of its assets in Russia to Tekhnoyak LLC – Kommersant

Several legal entities of Yandex in Russia, the authorized capital of which previously belonged directly to the Dutch Yandex NV, were transferred to Tekhnoyak LLC, Kommersant discovered in the SPARK-Interfax database. By October 27, the company received 100% in legal entities related to Yandex media assets (Kinopoisk, Yandex Music), unmanned vehicles (Yandex Unmanned Technologies), smart devices (Alice Laboratory) and a number of others . Yandex NV continues to own them, but indirectly, through Tekhnoyak. Yandex called its actions “a technical procedure to optimize the structure of legal entities of a group of companies.”
Tekhnoyak was founded on April 26, 2022, and its general director was initially Andrey Snigirev. On page Mr. Snigirev’s LinkedIn indicates that from November 2010 to January 2022 he was the head of legal support for Yandex on business and internal corporate relations, and from January 2022 he became the CEO of the IT hub in Serbia, Smart Business Technologies. In September 2023, Tekhnoyak was headed by Yandex CEO Artem Savinovsky.
By October 31, Yandex Taxi LLC remains under the full direct ownership of Yandex NV, reflected in Russian documents. Previously, the Dutch company was listed as the owner of the Russian Yandex LLC, but in May 2023, information about the co-owners of the latter was hidden from the Unified State Register of Legal Entities on counter-sanction grounds.
In November 2022, Yandex announced that it intended to divide its assets into Russian and international. According to the plan announced then, Yandex NV expected to independently develop the international parts of four Yandex business areas: cloud services, autonomous transport, data tagging and education. The company expects to present a concrete plan by the end of 2023, in October it reported during the disclosure of financial indicators, that it received “one of the necessary permissions” for the division from the Legal Commission on Foreign Investments. Earlier, a Kommersant source noted that the authorities revised the parameters of the deal after Yandex co-founder Arkady Volozh condemned Russia’s military actions in Ukraine.
