Business groups in Yandex appeared in 2021: then the company created a separate group for search, advertising and cloud services and a separate one for projects in the field of e-commerce and mobility.

Yandex was founded in 2000; its main product, a search engine, was launched in 1997 as a CompTek project. The Yandex Direct contextual advertising system began operating in 2001, and the Yandex advertising network in 2005.
