Yandex moved yandex.kz servers to Kazakhstan – Kommersant

Yandex Company (MOEX: YNDX) has completed the transfer of yandex.kz servers to Kazakhstan, the press service of the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the republic reported. Work has been carried out since August 2023.
“Yandex Kazakhstan is systematically working to strengthen national resources and localize its services for Kazakhstanis. Transferring servers to the country is an important step. It means that the data of our users will be processed in Kazakhstan,” said the head of the Ministry of Digital Development of Kazakhstan, Bagdat Musin.
The ministry’s statement indicated that the company itself brought and put into operation the necessary equipment. After this, load testing of the servers took place.
August 9 at the Ministry of Digital Development of Kazakhstan reported on the suspension of the yandex.kz domain due to the placement of an Internet resource on hardware and software systems outside the country. After this, the country’s authorities clarified that Yandex asked to extend the domain transfer period.
