“Yandex Educational Technologies” may be fined for violating the law on personal data

Roskomnadzor has drawn up an administrative protocol against the non-profit organization Yandex Educational Technologies, established by Yandex LLC. The protocol was registered by the world court of the Khamovnichesky district of Moscow. We are talking about a violation related to the processing of personal data, the punishment for which is a fine of 60 thousand to 100 thousand rubles. “Yandex” has not yet received a notice of the case.
Autonomous non-profit organization of additional professional education (ANO DPO) “Yandex Educational Technologies” was established in April 2014. Yandex LLC is its sole founder.
Consideration of the administrative protocol will be held in the 425th world judicial district on December 12, reports Interfax with reference to the court.
ANO DPO is charged with violation of Part 1 of Art. 13.11 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (processing of personal data in cases not provided for by the legislation of the Russian Federation in the field of personal data, or processing of personal data that is incompatible with the purposes of collecting personal data).
The press service of “Yandex” told the agency that they had not yet received a notification about the consideration of the case by the court. The company also said that in June “the fact of unauthorized access of malefactors to the data of Yandex Practicum users” was recorded. “Yandex” after that tightened the data storage policy in the service.
“It is important to note that no payment data or passwords of our users were compromised due to this incident,” the company’s press service said.
