Yampolskaya, a supporter of the fight against Anglicisms, complained about “blah blah blah” experts in literature

Deputy Elena Yampolskaya, known as one of the ardent supporters of the legislative fight against Anglicisms and the excessive use of foreign language vocabulary in the Russian language, used the interjection “blah blah blah” during a meeting of the State Duma Committee on Culture. This happened on January 24, during a discussion of the problem of the lack of a “writer” profession in the country.

The parliamentarian stated that “deputies of all factions constantly receive complaints from people involved in literary work that their profession is, in principle, not on the list (the all-Russian classifier of professions – I.V.), and therefore social problems arise.”

Yampolskaya emphasized that “the State Duma has begun to compile a list of experts who can be involved (on this issue).” And then she said the following: “This is a very wide range. I wish they weren’t blah blah blah, but specialists.”

The desire is understandable, but the interjection “blah-blah-blah” is a literal translation from the English “blah-blah-blah” (bla-bla-bla), where “bla” is a word that says absolutely nothing to the Russian ear with the meaning “ nonsense, nonsense.”
