Writer Leventel explained the increase in the number of relocants returning to Russia

Analysts from The Financial Times found through a survey that about 15% of relocants have already returned to Russia – and the volume of this flow will increase. The MK correspondent asked the popular prose writer, editor of the author’s book series Vadim Levantal and the Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, author of the song “Russian Lighthouses” Vlad Malenko to comment on the situation with the “returnees”. Both interlocutors assured that such a development of events was to be expected, but the writers assessed the behavior of their compatriots differently. One emotionally called his former compatriots “rats,” the second called for separating “enemies” and people who succumbed to collective hysteria.

“Of course, this was worth expecting. Man is a social animal, sometimes even a herd animal. When hysteria covers a whole herd, people rush back and forth, sometimes not even really understanding why, simply obeying the general movement,” says Vadim Levental.

In his opinion, “when the hysteria cools down, it turns out that, firstly, the promised apocalypse did not happen, and secondly, that tourism is not emigration.”

The writer called for a calm and balanced approach to the process of returning relocants.

“Alas, there are such public infections for which there are no simple recipes and general approaches. Of the mass of those who left, some are convinced enemies of our country, some are cynical fish who hoped that it would be deeper there, but most of them are people who simply suffered a temporary clouding of their minds,” he said.

In turn, Vlad Malenko was more categorical in his assessment: “The rats predictably jump back onto the Russian ship, having drunk salty, warm water, which suddenly made them feel sick. Here, among the Soviet masts that have become disgusting to them, it is ten times cheaper to treat their rotten teeth and remove the typuna from their tongues, for the sake of saying that they do not spare either mother or father. Here they can chop the “cabbages” again. This is not the collective Alexander Nikolaevich Vertinsky, who had the conscience of a great artist and sought to atone for his guilt before the country by working on the cold Russian stages. These are exactly rats. They will jump, stand on their hind legs, put on human masks and try to disappear among real people. You need to point your finger at them and tell the children: “This, Vasenka, is a rat in a mask. And you and I need to be human.”
