English writer Antonia Susan Byatt has died at the age of 87, reports The Guardian with reference to the publishing house Chatto & Windus. Based on her books, scripts were written for the films “Three Thousand Years of Desires” (2022), “Obsession” (2002) and “Angels and Insects” (1995).
According to The Guardian, the writer died at home surrounded by close relatives. “We mourn her loss, but we are pleased to know that her soulful works will dazzle, shine and refract in the minds of readers for generations to come,” said Clara Farmer, head of Chatto & Windus.
Antonia Susan Byatt is the author of more than two dozen books. Winner of the Man Booker Prize in 1990 and 2009 for his novels Possess and Children’s Book. Based on the novel Possess, the film Possession was directed by Neil LaBute in 2002, starring Gwyneth Paltrow and Aaron Eckhart. George Miller’s Three Thousand Years of Wishes (2022) was based on Ms. Byatt’s 1994 collection of fairy tales, The Genie in the Nightingale’s Eye Bottle.
