The Meta company (recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation) is due to announce new large-scale staff cuts this week. This is with reference to its own sources in the company reports The Washington Post.

According to sources, the cuts will be carried out in several stages. This week will announce first of all the reduction of employees of the recruitment service. In April, the company will lay off technical workers, and in May, employees in non-technical positions.

In November Meta already announced layoffs of 11,000 employees to cut costs, the largest layoff in the company’s history. At the same time, the company’s management called 2023 the year of efficiency.

Last week on the upcoming new round of cuts reported Bloomberg agency. According to the agency, the current round of cuts is associated with unsatisfactory financial performance. Faced with falling ad revenue, Meta’s management allegedly asked directors and vice presidents to make lists of employees they could say goodbye to without hurting the company, agency sources say.

Tech corporations have been announcing massive layoffs for months now. Only in February such plans were announced by Apple, Dell, Disney, Ericsson, PayPal, Twitter, Yahoo!, Zoom and many others. Today it has become knownthat Microsoft, as part of the 10,000 employee reduction program announced back in mid-January, fired the entire team of specialists responsible for ethics in the development of artificial intelligence. At the same time, according to Platformer, Microsoft still has a team of specialists who are tasked with developing the rules and principles that govern the company’s initiatives in the field of artificial intelligence.
