“Can you cook?” – Konstantin Getsati asks one of the contenders for his hand and heart. Among the evening dresses, limousines, languid glances and seething passions, a similar question sounded like the main joke in the show “Bride. Extra love.”

Although, it seems, no one intends to joke there. When twenty-six girls are fighting for the attention of one man, there are no forbidden techniques, especially since many contenders look like those who might bite if necessary. The outlandish mix of “The Bachelor” and a show with psychics in the producers’ vision probably reflects the main needs of the audience: natural selection plus witchcraft.

The main characters of all the “bachelor” seasons, as a rule, personified success, playboy habits and a thirst for romantic adventures. Yuppies, star comedians and actors, pop idols and stuff like that. But, apparently, now such a public is recognized as “morally obsolete”, and various sorcerers rule, which is not surprising at a time when everyone wants to know, at least approximately, the near future.

At the same time, the approximate type of applicant remains almost unchanged. Of course, in each batch of girls there are absolutely self-sufficient people who came to have fun rather than with the intention of trying on a veil, but on average everything is stable. Modeling career, cute duck face, slightly comical way of thinking, tears when necessary. Such persons always become objects of indignation by feminists and envious jokes of ladies who, perhaps, would like to be included in the frame, but were not taken. However, the winner will laugh heartily.

HOLLYWOOD FINALE

Video salons of the eighties were a plot that was not carefully worked out in local TV series, so the project “Camera. Motor” does not look like just another statement on a hackneyed topic. But in comedy, “original” doesn’t always translate into “funny.”





Film buff Kolya Videnin (Pavel Rassomakhin) runs a video store and seems to know more about cinema than he needs to in the early nineties. Having mistakenly put on a film for adults at a children’s show, Kolya goes to a colony-settlement, the head of which (Dmitry Kolchin) turned out to be to some extent a fellow sufferer: at one time at a disco in the officers’ club, he put on the song “Civil Defense”, after thinking , that you shouldn’t expect any tricks from a group with such a name. As a result, Kolya receives an amateur camera and carte blanche for educational work in the form of filming amateur remakes of Hollywood action films.

Something similar happens in the film “Rewind” by Michel Gondry, but adjusted for European art house and exchange rates. Nevertheless, “Camera. Motor” turned out to be an incredibly modern series. Big Hollywood for us again finds itself somewhere in the world of pirated copies, Schwarzenegger and the rest of the army no longer pose on local red carpets, and the mood of many is just like in the late eighties: there is real life somewhere, but here it is unlikely to get there.

The very idea that art, even in its most primitive forms, can make a person better is attractive at all times, and it was a matter of implementation. This is where the multi-part comedy with the signature set of this genre begins. It’s funny at best every once in a while, the actors need two or three human grimaces necessary for the game, and if with Gondry everything turns into a kind of trash concept, then here the delights are within the strict confines of a laughable television format.

However, the love of cinema cannot be stifled with routine jokes. At least, the scenes in which they are trying to film “Terminator” or “Commando”, even with the persistent aura of KVN, can touch everyone who grew up watching these films to tears.
