Russian wines made from domestic grapes will receive a special stamp with the emblem “Wine of Russia”, informed press service of the Ministry of Finance in the Telegram channel.
“In Russia, federal special brands with the emblem “Wine of Russia” are being introduced for Russian wine. They will appear on products that were made from grapes grown in Russia and meet all winemaking quality standards,” the department said, adding that the decree was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
The key goal of this step is to improve the quality of domestic wines and inform the consumer about such drinks, the Finance Ministry said. Brands with the emblem “Wine of Russia” will be given to producers who are members of the association “Federal Self-Regulatory Organization of Winegrowers and Winemakers of Russia” and have confirmed the Russian origin of the grapes used to make wine.
“The sign “Wine of Russia” will appear on three federal special stamps with the inscriptions “Wines”, “Sparkling wines” and “Liquor wines”. They will be stuck on bottles, regardless of their volume,” the Ministry of Finance added.
Last fall, Vedomosti, citing data from Rosalkogolregulirovanie wrotethat in Russia for the first nine months of 2022, 9.4 million decalitres (dal) of sparkling wine were produced. This is 27% more than domestic companies produced for the same period a year earlier: then 7.4 million decalitres of such drinks were bottled.
