The retailer Wildberries plans to launch the Digital Arbitrage service. The company reports that it must protect consumers from counterfeit goods, and copyright holders from violation of rights by sellers.
In case of suspicion of infringement of intellectual property rights, right holders will have the opportunity to check the documents themselves, which should reduce the time of proceedings.
If the product does not pass the test, it will be hidden on the marketplace. The company said that if the violations are repeated, it is possible to suspend cooperation with an unscrupulous seller. Also, the copyright holder will be able to receive compensation from the seller through the court and use the correspondence in the service as evidence.
On July 7, the Ministry of Industry and Trade announced that Wildberries is a counterfeit sales channel. Through the marketplace in Russia, they began to sell counterfeit products, complaints are received from consumers, said Vladislav Zaslavsky, Deputy Director of the Department for the Digital Marking of Goods and the Legalization of the Turnover of Products of the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The government has decreed that from March 1, 2023, marketplaces will be liable for the sale of counterfeit products. Sellers will have to mark goods using the “Honest Mark” system, wrote “RIA News”.
