The Wildberries marketplace did not rule out the possibility of changing its name to Berries in the future, the company’s press service told Vedomosti.
“We neither confirm nor deny a possible name change. “Berries” is part of the “Black Friday” marketing campaign – a sale with big discounts, which is now taking place with us. The site was also updated in the style of the advertising campaign,” the message says.
Today, the name of the marketplace site has been changed to the Russian-language “Yagodki”, but the link leading to the main page has remained unchanged. In early June, at the Russian Retail Week forum, Wildberries founder Tatyana Bakalchuk, responding to the remark of Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov about the dominance of foreign names in retail and industry, did not rule out that the company would think about the possibility of changing the name.
