Wildberries and Ozon announced the involvement of private firefighters to protect warehouses

Wildberries reported that they have organized fire safety posts from private fire departments at each marketplace warehouse. This decision was made against the backdrop of a recent major fire at the Wildberries warehouse in St. Petersburg. At Ozon (MOEX: OZON), in whose warehouse near Moscow a fire occurred in the summer of 2022, they also reported that representatives of the private fire department are present at each marketplace facility.
“We are strengthening fire safety measures and conducting our own inspections. Thus, they have already confirmed the availability of emergency exits, the operability of hatches and hydrants located on the territory of warehouse complexes. Additionally, at each warehouse we organize fire safety posts from among private fire departments – their task is to prevent and eliminate fire hazardous situations,” the agency was told “Moscow” in the company’s press service. They explained that Wildberries is in constant contact with the Ministry of Emergency Situations to resolve fire safety issues in its warehouses and distribution centers.
Ozon said that it is interacting with the Ministry of Emergency Situations on the issue of fire safety. “Each Ozon logistics facility is equipped with fire protection systems that meet all fire safety requirements. We check their performance every month, as well as training evacuations, and also monitor the technical serviceability of fire extinguishers. Each fulfillment center has a private fire department,” the company’s press service told Kommersant.
Today, January 22, consumer rights protection organization “Public Consumer Initiative” appealed to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation with a request to conduct comprehensive unscheduled inspections of the warehouses of the largest marketplaces. This is due to “objective fire safety problems.”
Fire at the Wildberries warehouse in St. Petersburg happened on the morning of January 13th.
