Warner Bros. canceled the release of the film “Batgirl”

The premiere of the film “Batgirl”, the shooting of which was completely completed, was canceled by Warner Bros. Deadline reports. The picture will not be shown even on the HBO Max streaming service, it will simply be “put on the shelf”.
Variety notes that this decision was unprecedented for the film industry, it “still comes as a shock, as studios prefer to get at least some return on their investments.”
The New York Post points out that the film cost nearly $100 million to produce on a planned $70 million budget.
The film stars Leslie Grace, Michael Keaton, Brendan Fraser and J.K. Simmons and was due out in December 2022.
Batgirl was reportedly canceled because it didn’t fit in with Warner Bros.’s current strategy. and Discovery, which merged in April. The collaboration focused on theatrical releases.
