Vyacheslav Spesivtsev: “The anthem of the DPR is an anthem of courage and heroism”

The festival of children’s vocals was dedicated to the Moscow Youth Theater of Victory

The Moscow Youth Theater hosted the final of the All-Russian Children’s Vocal Festival “I Sing for Victory!”. The best performers and groups from among the winners performed on the stage of the theater: Olga Zhuravleva, the vocal group “Friends” of the pop-jazz studio A&B, the NinetyNine group, Gleb Sivtsov, Diana Chechikova, Ksenia Pavlova and Anna Volkova. At the end of the song marathon, the audience was shown the performance “Vasily Terkin”, directed by the artistic director of the MMT, People’s Artist of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Spesivtsev.

Is the festival important now, during the special operation, or always?

“If we don’t start talking to them about that act of beauty that the classic spoke about, all our efforts in chemistry, physics and other subjects will be in vain,” says Spesivtsev. – In our time, churches were closed, and the concept of “neighbor”, whom Christ called to love, was obscured from us by the construction of communism. Now we have come to the conclusion that the churches are open – there is Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, it remains to understand that all people are brothers. Now we are rehearsing a production of “Eugene Onegin” in Russian with twelve countries.

– Is the concert “I sing for Victory” an organic component of the project?

— Yes, its vocal part.

— Participants from Donbass were at the concert?

– Were – at the very beginning. And in the end, we even sang the anthem of the Donetsk People’s Republic – a hymn to the courage and heroism that they showed and still show there. My friend and student is now in charge of the youth theater in Lugansk. The performance of our theater “Vasily Terkin”, full of songs from the times of the Great Patriotic War and modern ones, ended with the anthem.

— You were born during the years of the Great Patriotic War — I am sure that you perceive the events on Donetsk soil especially sharply, first of all, aesthetically.

— The quote “In the beginning was the Word” is very important to me. This word for us is Russian. “Taras Bulba”, his struggle for the freedom of the Russian land, these concepts. If people stand up and fight for their word, they are invincible. Of course, it’s hard – it’s not easy for people there to live under bombardment. But this is a matter of survival, for in the Word, as both Pushkin and Turgenev speak of, is the basis of everything spiritual.
