VTB expects a good 2024, but profitability will be slightly worse – Kommersant

VTB CEO Andrei Kostin expects good financial results from his bank in 2024. However, it will be “a little worse” than in 2023. Mr. Kostin shared his opinion on the sidelines of the “Russia Calling!” forum.
“VTB expects a fairly good year, profitability is slightly less than this year. <...> In general, we expect positive development, and I think the year is a little worse than this, but overall stable development and stable results,” the head of VTB told reporters (quoted by TASS). According to the head of VTB, profitability will be lower than in 2023 due to the introduction of a number of restrictions on consumer lending by the Central Bank.
In 2022, VTB Group received a record loss under IFRS in the amount of 612.6 billion rubles. In 2023, Mr. Kostin expects record profits – around 420 billion rubles.
