VTB (MOEX: VTBR) from November 2 will increase deposit rates by an average of 2.5 percentage points. The maximum return on them will be 15% depending on the term and type of deposit, and when transferring a pension to a bank it will be 16% per annum.
VTB clients will be able to receive a rate of 15% per annum when placing funds for three years using VTB Deposit, the press service of the credit institution reported. For clients who transfer their pension to VTB before November 30 and receive the first payment into their account before January 31, 2024, a 1% per annum premium is provided. Thus, when opening a deposit for a long period, the maximum return for them in the first six months will be 16% per annum.
In addition, from November 1, VTB is increasing rates on savings accounts. A maximum return of 15% will be available to clients who open a Safe savings account for the first time. A rate of 13% will apply to the Piggy bank savings account. The maximum amount for accruals on it is 1 million rubles.
“We previously predicted that the maximum yield on savings products among Russian banks would reach 15%. There have been no such rates on the market for almost 1.5 years, and now consumers have the opportunity to fix the return on their deposit for the long term, when the key rate stabilizes and returns to lower values,” Natalya Tuchkova, head of the VTB Savings department, commented on the increase in rates.
Banks began to increase rates on deposits and accounts following the decision of the Bank of Russia increase key rate up to 15% per annum. Sberbank increased rates on a number of deposits, the maximum being 14% per annum. Alfa Bank increases maximum deposit rates to 15%. Gazprombank announced that it is increasing the rate on the savings account – 15% per annum, on deposits the maximum rate will be 14%. However, the average yield on deposits of banks from the top 50 remains slightly above 11.2%.
