VTB Bank will raise rates on savings products from Thursday, August 17. Alfa-Bank also announced plans to raise rates in the near future.
Starting Thursday, for new VTB customers, savings account rates will rise to 12%. The maximum rate on popular bank deposits will be fixed at 11% per annum.
Banks Otkritie and RNCB, which are part of the VTB Group, also plan to raise rates early next week. “Now we are working out the final conditions,” the press service of VTB said.
The press service of Alfa-Bank reported that they were going to raise deposit rates in the near future. “Soon we will announce the changes,” reported in the bank. They added that for the time being they plan to keep the current rates on loan products.
Today, August 15, the Central Bank raised the key rate from 8.5% to 12% amid the fall of the ruble. Yesterday, August 14, the dollar exceeded 101 rubles, the euro – 110 rubles. The fall of the Russian currency has accelerated since the beginning of August and amounted to about 7%, which is more than in the whole of July. In today’s trading dollar rose above 97 rubles, euro – 103 rubles.
