The feature film “Match”, dedicated to the “death match” between Kyiv football players and the Wehrmacht team in Nazi-occupied Kyiv, can again be seen in cinemas. It will be re-released on August 9 at the initiative of the Military Patriotic Cinema Support Fund. According to the press service of Voenkino, the premiere re-screening will take place on the same day in the capital’s cinema “Moskva”. The movie is based on real events. The prototype of the protagonist Nikolai Ranevich – Dynamo player Nikolai Trusevich was shot by the Germans in the Syrets concentration camp in 1943. The “death match” in Nazi-occupied Kyiv was staged by the Germans. Soviet football players faced a choice: lose or be shot. Despite direct threats from the Nazis, the Soviet players won the match.
