The artistic director of the Oleg Tabakov Theater (Snuffboxes) Vladimir Mashkov said that the attempts of the West to “push” Russian culture away from the world culture cannot be successful. This opinion was expressed by the People’s Artist of Russia, speaking at the opening of the first tour of the theater in Chersonese, on the antique stage of the museum-reserve.
“Russian culture is the absolute core of suffering and sensuality, this is how our richest language works,” Mashkov said. In his opinion, “the very words and proposals about some kind of “cancellation” are absurd. They fall out of reality like dough rising out of a saucepan.”
It is impossible to cancel Russian culture, just as it is impossible to cancel the people of art themselves, the artistic director of Snuffbox emphasized. “It will not happen. We cannot be cancelled. I cannot be canceled,” Mashkov added.
Recall that the theater, created by Oleg Tabakov, first came on tour to Sevastopol. Performances are held in the ancient theater of Chersonese, which is part of the museum-reserve. According to representatives of the troupe, the road to the Crimea did not present any inconvenience.
