Vladimir Mashkov became president of the Golden Mask – Kommersant

The artistic director of the Oleg Tabakov Theater and the head of the Union of Theater Workers (STD) Vladimir Mashkov became president of the national theater award and festival “Golden Mask”. The decision was made at a meeting of the STD secretariat.

“The powers of the President of the “Golden Mask” were assumed by the Chairman of the Union of Trade Unions of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Mashkov… The Secretariat also supported Vladimir Mashkov’s proposal to begin preparing a program and plan of events to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Union of Sports Theater of the Russian Federation in 2026,” it says message on the union website.

The material indicates that the director of the Vakhatangov Theater Igor Krok became the vice-president of the Golden Mask. The STD Secretariat at the meeting also unanimously decided to create the Donetsk regional branch of the union.

On December 4, Vladimir Mashkov was elected chairman of the STD for five years – he was the only candidate for this post. Mr. Mashkov proposed candidates for the new secretariat of the union. It included Valery Gergiev, who was appointed head of the Bolshoi Theater on December 1, Igor Krok, rector of the Institute. Mikhail Shchepkin Boris Lyubimov, artistic director of the Moscow Provincial Theater Sergei Bezrukov and others.

In August, the STD press service reported, that the Union of Theater Workers will withdraw from the members of the autonomous non-profit organization “Golden Mask Award and Festival” and create its own award and festival of the same name. According to the amended rules, lists of candidates for expert councils and juries will have to be formed within the Union, approved by its head and agreed upon with the Ministry of Culture.
