Hackers have made public the personal data of Vkusvill customers. We are talking about phone numbers, email addresses, dates and amounts of purchases, the last four digits of bank cards. The retailer confirmed the leak of “public data of some customers”.
Initially, profile Telegram channels reported the leak. Yes, according to the channel “Data Leaks” founder of the DLBI service Ashot Oganesyan, hackers revealed 242.3 thousand numbers, 233.2 thousand email addresses, dates and times of orders, payment and delivery from December 5 to December 7, 2022, as well as the amount of orders. It is noted that the source of information has previously published the data of participants in the loyalty programs of Tele2, Russian Post, GeekBrains, Delivery Club and other companies.
Vkusvill became aware of the leak on the night of December 8-9. “Our specialists independently discovered and promptly took measures to correct the situation. Third parties have received files containing public data of some of our customers, namely: phone numbers and email addresses, dates and amounts of orders, and the last four digits of a bank card number,” the TASS retailer said.
The company notes that third parties did not get the names, addresses and full payment information of bank cards. Vkusvill continues to investigate the leak.
In Russia, a bill is being discussed to introduce turnover fines for companies for leaking customer personal information. In addition, the Ministry of Digital Development proposes to create a material compensation fund for citizens who have become victims of leaks. It is assumed that the fund will be replenished at the expense of turnover fines.
