Food retailer Vkusvill has launched test sales of products under its own brand in China, according to a company release received by Vedomosti.
Sales began at the end of this month on the site of the largest Chinese marketplace Tmall Global, and the first buyers have already received their orders. The online store operates under a localized brand. At the moment, the assortment consists of four tasting sets, collected from 35 items, including, for example, bread, nut mixes, bran, healthy sweets, etc.
“To enter the market, we chose the cross-border model, in which the order is sent from a bonded warehouse in China and the last mile of delivery takes the usual 1-3 days for a Chinese buyer,” said Andrey Tuzhikov, the company’s export specialist to China.
This format is associated with Chinese buyers with imported products and allows expanding the range of exports through simplified certification, he explained.
The company emphasized that there is a clear trend in the Chinese market for healthy food and snacks with a quality composition, and the further development of the project will depend on customer requests.
The Vkusvill chain of stores was founded in Moscow in 2012 and offers healthy food products. The network includes over 1300 stores in 67 cities of Russia.
