VK bought the rights to the long-term lease of Singer’s house in St. Petersburg

VK Company Limited has acquired 100% of the shares of CJSC Singer, which owns the leasehold rights to the Singer company house at 28 Nevsky Prospekt in St. Petersburg. About this today, June 28, reported in the press service of VK. “The deal will optimize costs and protect the economic interests of the company,” VK added. Since 2010, the headquarters of the social network VKontakte has been located in the Singer house.
As follows from the data of the SPARK system, the owner of Zinger CJSC changed at the end of last week – June 23, 2023. At the same time, VK does not disclose the amount of the transaction. At the moment, several companies operate in the Singer house under sublease agreements. The basement and first floor are occupied by the Dom Knigi bookstore, which subleases approximately 3,000 sq. m. m. Another part of the premises is occupied by the Singer Cafe, as well as the office department.
Previously, CJSC Zinger was associated with the entrepreneur and ex-owner of PJSC Baltic Bank Andrey Isaev. Then, in 1999, the company entered into a lease agreement for a building at 28 Nevsky Prospekt for a period of 49 years. In 2014, Baltiysky Bank came under the reorganization of Alfa-Bank. The second bank acted as the assignee of the first.
In February 2022, it was announced that the Singer house would change its owner – Alfa-Bank would sell the rights to lease the premises due to unfavorable rental offers. This was done after the St. Petersburg Arbitration Court declared the concluded sublease agreements invalid. Alfa-Bank noted that the contracts were not signed by them, but by the ex-owner of the Baltic Bank, Andrei Isaev.
