VK bought 51% in the manufacturing company “What happened next?”

VK signed an agreement to acquire a 51% stake in the Medium Quality production company, which produces YouTube projects What happened next?, Inside Lapenko, and others, follows from the company’s announcement. The amount of the deal was not disclosed.
It is specified that the deal will allow VK to strengthen its position in the video content market through shows and joint projects that will be produced specifically for the VK Video, VK Clips and other media resources of the holding, the company noted.
The fact that VK and Medium Quality are negotiating became known in November 2022. Forbes then, citing a source informedthat the anchor project in terms of revenue in 2021 was the show “What happened next?”. In particular, at the beginning of the year, one advertising integration in the show cost 15 million rubles, and by autumn its cost had grown to 18 million rubles. In total, at the end of the year, the show’s revenue from advertising amounted to more than 430 million rubles.

And in September VK closed a deal under which the content platforms Zen and Novosti, which previously belonged to Yandex, were transferred to it.
