VK allowed employees to work remotely, provided they are in Russia, transmits TASS with a link to a copy of the letter he sent.
“We keep this format [удаленной работы], but we clarify that it is possible from the territory of Russia,” the letter says. Being in Russia is necessary in order to “be in the same context with users and understand their needs,” the company specifies.
The press service of VK told the agency that full-scale remote work with all accesses, including work with user data, is possible from the office or remotely from the territory of Russia.
Earlier, in a conversation with Vedomosti, Andrey Klishas, head of the Committee on State Building and Constitutional Legislation of the Federation Council, allowed restrictions to be imposed on Russian citizens who left the country amid the start of partial mobilization. He added that, in his opinion, restrictions on work from abroad should be introduced for employees of “sensitive” sectors of the economy. As examples of such areas, he named transport security and the public sector.
The State Duma at its plenary session on February 22 also adopted a resolution recommending the Ministry of Digital Transformation to consider the issue of banning remote work for IT specialists who left Russia. The head of the Ministry of Digital Development, Maksut Shadayev, commenting on the mass exodus of IT specialists from Russia, spoke out against the “draconian measures” against workers in the IT industry. According to him, it is necessary to create conditions for specialists to want to return to Russia.
