The eSports team Virtus.pro was disqualified from the Malta Cyber Series: VII tournament for the Rainbow Six Siege game. Team press service reported with reference to the administration of the game developer Ubisoft, that the basis for disqualification was the nationality of the players.
“Virtus.pro’s achievements and experience in the discipline, as well as a well-deserved slot in the European league, do not allow us to turn a blind eye to open discrimination against players, which we immediately reported to Ubisoft,” Virtus.pro said.
According to the Cybersport.ru portal, Virtus.pro received an invitation to the qualifying competitions from Ubisoft, but the tournament was organized by the Maltese operator GMR. Currently, five Russians play in Virtus.pro: Pavel Kosenko (p4sh4), Dmitry Mitrakhovich (Always), Danila Dontsov (dan), Danil Gabov (JoyStiCK), Artur Ipatov (ShepparD).
