The American biopharmaceutical company Viatris stopped deliveries of Viagra tablets to Russia in 2022. This was reported in the Ministry of Industry and Trade, transmits Interfax.

In particular, within the framework of the state program “Development of the Pharmaceutical and Medical Industry”, clinical trials of the drug with INN sildenafil in the form of a tablet were supported. The drug is registered and is regularly put into circulation, the Ministry of Industry and Trade noted.
In Russia, 36 companies have 49 registration certificates for such a drug. According to the ministry, from January to September 2022, the country’s production of the drug increased by more than 11%, while sales volumes increased by 15% over the same period.
Against the backdrop of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine, international pharmaceutical companies, including Roche, GSK, Novartis, Pfizer, suspended new clinical trials in the Russian Federation, and also stopped recruiting patients for current ones. In the spring of 2022, foreign pharmaceutical manufacturers also announced that they would not launch new drug trials.
