The Japanese clothing brand Uniqlo told its employees that it is preparing to completely close part of the stores in Russia, reports Vedomosti with reference to sources. How many stores will be closed is unknown. According to the Japanese website Uniqlo, two stores have already closed in Russia: there were 50 in March, and 48 by the end of September.
Nadezhda Tsvetkova, head of CORE.XP retail space leasing, says that so far retail outlets have been reduced mainly in the regions. She said Uniqlo will likely move stocks of goods for storage in flagship stores and in places where leases cannot be quickly terminated. Uniqlo did not comment on this information.
Stores suspended work in Russia from March 21. Company announced about a temporary withdrawal from the Russian market amid the military operation in Ukraine. In October CDEK.Shopping started delivering branded goods from Poland. The site has already hosted more than 1.5 thousand items from Uniqlo.
