Vedomosti: Russian Railways will buy Lastochka for 67.5 billion rubles

RZD intends to purchase Lastochka passenger electric trains from the Sinara Group in the amount of 67.5 billion rubles. The transactions will take place in 2023-2025. The newspaper reported Vedomosti with reference to materials for the draft investment program of Russian Railways for 2023–2025.
Representative of STM Holding (Sinara – transport vehicles) – “b”) confirmed to Vedomosti that the company is negotiating with Russian Railways on the supply of Lastochka in 2023-2025. According to him, in 2023 the company is going to supply Russian Railways with 23 electric trains in a five-car configuration.
Russian Railways added that in 2021 they purchased 145 cars of Lastochka electric trains, in 2022 the companies have already delivered 18 of the 28 planned trains.
“Lastochki” are built on the basis of the Siemens Desiro electric train. The Russian “daughter” of Siemens served the trains. In early March, the company left the Russian market due to sanctions against Russia.
Earlier, Kommersant reported that Russian Railways was going to significantly increase the size of the investment program in 2023-2025. It is expected that in 2023 the investment program will amount to 1.23 trillion rubles, in 2024 – 1.5 trillion rubles, in 2025 – 1.66 trillion rubles.
