Director of the Vakhtangov Theater Kirill Krok recently stated that one actress who “didn’t give a damn about her country” received 200 thousand rubles for going on stage in Russia, meaning Chulpan Khamatova. The director of the Lenkom Theater, Mark Varshaver, questioned whether Khamatova could have received that kind of money at Sovremennik.
In conversation with Teleprogramma.pro Varshaver said that this simply could not be, since even Innokenty Smoktunovsky was once paid ten times less. According to the director of the theater, now “they came up with the idea that Khamatova is a great artist.” He believes that she is “a good artist”, but it is not true that she was paid 200 thousand rubles.
However, Varshaver does not rule out that Khamatova could receive good money when she played on the side in entreprises. However, according to the director of Lenkom, the actress never received such fees in her theater in her life.
Varshaver believes that an actor can be paid at least a million, but for this you need to have this money, there must be a very large off-budget fund. The director of Lenkom does not understand why it is Khamatova who needs to be paid such amounts, because there are other artists in Sovremennik, many of whom play no worse than her. Varshaver doubted that the actress could receive such money for going on stage, but suggested that she could have a monthly salary of 200 thousand rubles.
