Streaming service HBO is “actively discussing” the creation of a second prequel to the series “Game of Thrones”, which will focus on the story of the conquest of Westeros by Aegon I Targaryen, reports Variety with reference to sources. They clarified that while the project is in the early stages of development, they are looking for a screenwriter.
According to the publication, the prequel may also be released in film format, which will continue in the form of a TV series. He is supposed to tell how Aegon I, along with his sisters Visenya and Rhaenys, conquered all the kingdoms of Westeros, with the exception of Dorne. Events will unfold approximately 300 years before the “Game of Thrones”. HBO declined to comment on the information.
In August 2022 came out the first season of another prequel titled “House of the Dragon”. It is based on the plot of the book “Fire and Blood” and tells about the members of the Targaryen house. Series received Golden Globe. In the spring of 2023, filming of the second season began. By data Deadline, it will consist of eight episodes instead of ten. The number of episodes was reduced due to changes in the script – in particular, it was decided to move one “major battle” to the third season.
