The painting “Portrait of a Peasant Woman in a White Cap” by Vincent Van Gogh was sold at the European Fine Arts Fair in Maastricht, the TV channel reports. NOS. The buyer bought the work, painted in 1884, for €4.5 million.

The painting was sold by the American gallery M. S. Rau (New Orleans). The buyer is a private person with a private museum outside of Europe. His name has not been revealed.

“Portrait of a Peasant Woman in a White Cap” was painted in oil paint on a canvas measuring 63 by 48 cm. Vincent Van Gogh painted the painting when he lived in the city of Nuenen in the Netherlands (now a suburb of Eindhoven).
