At the Theatre. Yevgeny Vakhtangov held the traditional gathering of the troupe, which was marked by the opening of a monument in the courtyard of the Simonovskaya stage.

On the opening day of the 102nd theatrical season, outstanding artists of the famous theater appeared before their fans – Vasily Lanovoy, Vladimir Etush, Yuri Yakovlev, who died recently, the great, beloved masters of our time.

At the gathering of the troupe, according to tradition, congratulations were given to the awardees and anniversaries. Kirill Krok delivered an excellent speech dedicated to the long-term artistic director of the theatre, Rimas Tuminas, promising that his performances would never leave the repertoire on someone else’s orders. The achievements of the theater headed by the director, who is now solely responsible for the Vakhtangov collective, are very impressive. He also spoke about the upcoming plans for the season – 12 premieres.

The first premiere of the Main Stage will be a new performance by the chief director of the theater Yuri Butusov. In January 2023, the premiere of Dostoevsky’s novel “The Idiot” will take place. Rehearsals are in full swing. In March, they will play “Amadeus” based on the play by Peter Schaeffer with Alexei Guskov and Viktor Dobronravov in the lead roles. This performance will be Vakhtangov’s debut in great form for director Anatoly Shulyev, a student of Rimas Tuminas, who staged one of the parts of the almanac performance Stefan Zweig. Novellas” on the Simonovskaya stage and “The Fool” by Lope de Vega – on the Novaya. And at the end of the season, the premiere of the play by Irina Pakhomova will take place. She will stage Filumena Marturano by Eduardo de Filippo with Nonna Grishaeva and Grigory Antipenko. A musical performance of a large form will be staged by Ivan Popovski, who has not yet decided on a name.

Svetlana Zemlyakova will release a premiere on the New Stage at the end of November. As in the case of her performance “Sergeev and the Town”, which is on the same stage, the material will be modern prose, and Maxim Sevrinovsky will play the main role. She will stage one of the most notable novels of recent years, The General and His Family by Timur Kibirov. Sergei Yashin, who released Master Class with Lyudmila Maksakova last season on the Simonovskaya Stage, will stage The Queen Mother based on a play by Manlio Santanelli for this actress. Vladimir Logvinov will become Maksakova’s partner in the duet performance. The first shows are scheduled for February. And in the spring, Natalya Kovaleva will release a premiere on the New Stage. She will stage Merezhkovsky’s play “Paul I”. Alexander Oleshko will play the title role. German director Joshua Rösing, who released Kafka’s “Transformation” on the Simonovskaya stage, is rehearsing “Volokolamsk Highway” by Heiner Müller.

Four premieres have been announced on the Simonovskaya stage. In early November, Chekhov’s Jumping Girl directed by Aidar Zabbarov will be performed here. The main roles will be played by Evgenia Ivashova, Yan Gakharmanov, Yuri Polyak and Vasily Tsygantsov. And already in December, Pavel Safonov will offer his version of Erdman’s “Suicide” with Yuri Tsokurov in the title role. In February, the premiere of Gogol’s The Night Before Christmas directed by Oleg Dolin will be played, and Anna Gorushkina, whose two performances are going on at the Studio, will begin rehearsals of Turgenev’s The Freeloader with Andrei Ilyin in the title role. In addition, the theater announced two more new works. Leyla Abu-al-Kishek, the author of three performances of the Simonovskaya stage, will start rehearsals based on the script for Fellini’s film Eight and a Half. And the Vakhtangovskiy actor Eldar Tramov, who made his debut last season as a director of the play “The Other Side of the Medal” based on the play by Florian Zeller, will start reading Tennessee Williams.

And already on September 16, on the stage of the “Studio” – the premiere of the puppet parable for family viewing “The Last Dream of the Duck” based on the play by Klava Ilyina. Directed by Vladislav Tutak, a young director from St. Petersburg.
