Uzbekistan is negotiating with Gazprom (MOEX: GAZP) on natural gas supplies on a long-term and medium-term basis. This was announced by the country’s Energy Minister Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov on the Uzbekistan 24 TV channel.
“As part of the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan (to Russia.— “Ъ”) Gazprom and I have begun negotiations on concluding medium- and long-term contracts for gas supplies,” said Mr. Mirzamakhmudov (quoted from Gazeta.uz).
On October 7, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev together with colleagues from Russia and Kazakhstan Vladimir Putin and Kassym-Jomart Tokayev started supplies of Russian gas to these two countries. Supplies of natural Russian gas to consumers in Uzbekistan will be carried out within the framework of the agreement, signed June 16 as part of SPIEF-2022.
Gas will be supplied to Uzbekistan through the Central Asia-Center gas pipeline system in transit through Kazakh territory, while part of it will also be supplied to Kazakhstan.
