The contract was signed at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) as part of a meeting between Alexei Miller, Chairman of the Management Board of Gazprom, and Jamshid Khodjaev, Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, and Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov, Minister of Energy of the country. Gazprom and Uzbekistan also signed a roadmap to prepare Uzbekistan’s gas transmission system for receiving and transporting Russian gas. In addition, at the SPIEF, Gazprom signed an agreement with the Kazakh company Qazaqgaz for the provision of gas transportation services through Kazakhstan.
The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan clarified that, in accordance with the road map, 22 km of new main gas pipelines will be built in the republic and 56 km of gas pipelines will be repaired.
